As
a teen, Jim Hembree learned that his bond with horses
and desire to compete was leaning
toward reining stock and horses with speed. After three apprenticeships
under reining and race horse trainers, he would spend the
next thirty years training performance horses, conducting
horsemanship
clinics, and breeding and racing Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds.
Licensed by several state racing commissions, he based his
operations in Oklahoma and then Louisiana while racing the
US circuit. Jim has been touted by his peers and clients
as a trainer who believes in sound foundations in a horse's
schooling regardless of the area in which it would eventually
compete.
Jim earned a B.S. in Equine Science at Louisiana Tech University
with an emphasis in reproductive physiology and a specialty
in embryo transfer. He conducted cutting-edge research involving
assisted reproductive techniques and also attended the National
Embryo Transfer School under the direction of Dr. Peter Elsden
who pioneered non-surgical embryo transfer.
Market trends prompted Jim to write The Crystal Ball
of Equine Color to provide a needed source of reference
that he found unavailable in this form. Jim now resides at
his J4 Ranch in Downsville, LA where he is constructing a new
breeding and training facility and ET clinic. He continues
to write and consult and promises more releases concerning
equine subject matter in the near future. |

James
Liner is a man of unique position combining his artistic
profession with horses. He is the art director
at West Monroe High School in West Monroe, Louisiana
and resides at his Dances with Hooves Paso Fino Farm
in Choudrant, Louisiana. At his farm, he enjoys a twenty-two
year relationship with raising and training horses.
Being
an artist and horseman, James has taken that harmony
and trained his eye to see the presence and spirituality
of the horse in a very special way. Regardless of the
breed or its characteristics, he views each animal with
its special size and musculature as their innate tools
to do the job that they were intended for. These are
the things that James teaches his aspiring young artists
to capture in their art.
As
an art teacher for over twenty years, it is James'
desire to endorse equine art, sponsor the experience
through his illustrations, and share some of the great
satisfaction he has gained from putting horses on paper
and canvas. Through his association with all of the J4
Ranch productions, James hopes to further his commitment
to that goal.
